The cover has a border of gold embossed oak leaves and title plate in low relief. Copyright 1934 by William H. Wise & Co. Includes both Old and New Testament. Paul Gustave Louis Christopher Dore (1832-1883) was a French artist, printmaker, illustrator and sculptor, who worked primarily with wood engravings. He is best known for his intricate Biblical illustrations. Dore also created illustrations for such great works as Dante’s Inferno, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Paradise Lost, The Idylls of the King, The Works of Thomas Hood, and The Divine Comedy.
