A Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) etching titled The Virgin and Child with Cat and Serpent, circa 1654. Work depicts Mary seated with the child in her lap. Impression from the plate is clean and clear and of the second and final state, mid 18th century. Piece is matted with acid-free matting and mounted in wooden frame. Update: authentic and as stated, has been removed from frame and un-matted for photography and verification.
Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history.
