An etching by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) entitled Circumcision in the Stable. Impression is clean and clear. This work is likely a posthumous edition of the second state, with the former white spaces in the upper left and upper middle now filled in. Printed on fine laid paper. Work is signed and dated twice in plate. A wonderful scene of the Holy Family swept with light and infused with great detail. Piece is matted with acid-free matting and mounted in giltwood frame. Update: authentic and as stated, has been removed from frame and un-matted for photography and verification.
Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history.
