An etching with drypoint by Rembrandt van Rijn (1609-1669) entitled The Descent from the Cross by Torchlight, 1654. Etching signed and dated by Rembrandt in plate in lower left. A later impression of the only state, on laid paper. Piece is matted with acid-free matting and mounted in wooden frame. Update: authentic and as stated, has been removed from frame and un-matted for photography and verification.

Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history.

Condition

Staining present around edges.
