Antique Canton Portable Crane
Item Details
An antique portable crane by the Canton Foundry and Machine Company. This ‘portable’ crane allowed one man to do the work of many, radically changing the way heavy work was accomplished. An advertisement for one of these cranes appear in Horseless Age, an automobile trade magazine, and other industry magazines circa 1916. This crane features a curved iron frame with chain pulley and lever and ratchet mechanisms. The crane sits on wheels with handle to maneuver the crane. The crane is numbered ‘XA1A’ and claims a one ton capacity.

Condition
The crane is untested and appears to be missing some components. The crane is completely rusted.
