Item Details
A 1991 fine pewter sculpture by Los Angeles born Western and Wildlife artist Don Polland (1932-2003), entitled A Test of Courage. In many tribes before the advent of the rifle, grown eagles were caught by hand, killed and stripped of their feathers for ceremonies. The eagle catchers, because of their stoic bravery and great skill, were held in reverence by members of their tribes. This piece is numbered 1192/1200. The craftsmanship of this piece is remarkable and detail stunning. It sets atop a solid wood base and bears all appropriate markings. Also included is the Certificate of Registration. A wonderful collector’s piece.
