A colossal solid bronze limited edition reproduction sculpture titled Outlaw Cowboy by famous sculptor Frederic Remington (1861-1909). The back is marked Dedicated to Henry Dearborn Sec. of War 1904 and is numbered 51/100. The piece also bears the number 190405150. Frederic Sackrider Remington was born in Canton, New York in 1861, was a painter, illustrator, sculptor and writer, specializing in the Old American West, specifically cowboys and Indians. Remington’s paternal family emigrated from Alsace-Lorraine in the early 18th century and became hardware store owners. Remington’s father became a colonel in the Civil War and his maternal family were the founders of Windsor, Connecticut in 1633. Remington’s cousin, Eliphalet Remington, was founder of the Remington Arms Company, America’s oldest gun maker and well as being a distant relative of General George Washington, our first President. Remington was married to his childhood sweetheart Eva Adele Caten and had no children. He died at the age of 48 from complications from an emergency appendectomy and is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery, Canton, New York. Remington will forever be one of our most respected and well known Western sculptors.
