Original Signed Nancy Ford Cones Photograph

An original signed Nancy Ford Cones (1869–1962) photograph of a Victorian woman looking over her left shoulder, posed between two doors of a parlor. The photograph is protected in a brown paper portfolio, which is signed in pencil to the lower right-hand side. Internationally known artist Nancy Ford Cone was a Cincinnati photographer during the early nineteenth century. In 1905, the Eastman Kodak Company held a photographic competition that drew twenty-eight thousand entries, Nancy Ford Cones finished second to Edward Steichen. She primarily documented friends and relatives at her family farm near Loveland, Ohio, the ‘Roads Inn’. In 1926, Cone’s and her husband spent a year in Mariemont, Ohio, where they were commissioned to document the new town.
