Anglo-Indian Child's Chair

A delightful Anglo-Indian child’s chair with original hand-caned seat and curvilinear back. A restraint rod with turned finials, keeps the child securely positioned. Below is a detachable footrest with brass mounting pins. A lower stand has swept out rear legs and turned front legs and acts as a riser for the chair (includes original thumb screw to securely attach chair to stand) or may be used as a table. This unusual form was made for travel and is beautifully constructed of dense mahogany with rich color and a french polish finish. Circa 1845-50.
