Five vintage 1920’s books with various titles, all having incredible Art Deco illustrations by Jean De Bosschere, Frank Pape, John Austen and Patterson. ‘The Books Of Ovid’ and ‘The First Temptation of Saint Anthony’ were published in London by John Lane The Bodley Head Limited in editions of 3000 copies of which these books are numbered 1,644 and 954. Both books are profusely illustrated by Belgian artist Jean De Bosschere (1878-1953). Three further books ‘Thais’, ‘Golden Tales of Anatole France’ and ‘The Gods Are Athirst’ were published in New York at Dodd, Mead and Company in 1927 and were beautifully illustrated by Pape, Austen and L.A. Patterson. All are cloth bound with spectacular gold gilt stamped illustration.
Condition
All are in very good vintage condition with clean pages and tight bindings.
