Antique Lincoln-Style Rocker

Item Details

An antique rocking chair in the style sometimes called a Lincoln rocker. It features a curved crest rail with curved side supports, scrolled armrests, hand-caned cane back and seat, and lathe-turned front legs joined by a lathe-turned spreader. It sits on two elongated rocker legs. It is constructed from mixed hardwoods including walnut, poplar, and hickory. Circa mid to late 19th century.

Condition

- something of an odd case, this chair is in very good condition for its age in terms of damage: all of the caning is intact, and there are only minor nicks and scuffs to the wood. At the same time the chair is somewhat irregular in that the back rail is not quite straight, and one rocker leg is at a sharper angle than the other. This is most apparent from the back, and doesn’t affect the usability of the chair or its appearance from the front, so it maintains its Good rating.
