Vintage Hoosier-Type Kitchen Cabinet by Sellers
Item Details
A vintage Hoosier-type kitchen cabinet. Designed to address the lack of storage space in many kitchens in the early 1900s, the Hoosier Manufacturing Co. popularized this type of cabinet that came to be known by the company’s name, despite quick adoption by other cabinet manufacturers. The lower section of the cabinet has several storage cupboards and drawers, including a cupboard with slide-out shelves. The upper portion has three cupboard doors above a storage area with a slide-down door. The narrow, enameled metal counter top slides outward to increase work space. Designed for maximum efficiency and ease, the cabinet sits on casters. The front of the cabinet has a metal plaque, and while the name of the manufacturer is no longer visible, this cabinet seems to be the Sellers Co. of Elwood, Indiana.

Condition
Wear consistent with age and use. The enamel counter top is chipped in a few places around the edges. The paint is peeling on the front cupboard doors and is worn around the edges. Many components are rusty and somewhat reluctant to move.
