Contemporary Ceramic and Wood Wall Sculpture by Althea Thompson
Item Details
A contemporary wood and ceramic handcrafted wall art sculpture by Cincinnati artist and educator, Althea Thompson, circa 1990s, procured from the Malton Gallery in Cincinnati. The piece recalls both a graffitied brick wall and a psychological Rorschach test. ‘K. Nauxs’ appears in the center but, alas, no artist’s signature is present. It does have a strong wire in the back for hanging both inside and outside under cover. The artist earned her BA from DAAP at the University of Cincinnati (UC) where she also earned her MA in Art Education. She has taught at UC and at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and presently she is a teacher at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. Her work has been exhibited at the Weston Gallery and Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati and it can be found in several corporate and private collections worldwide.
