Item Details

An exquisite Rococo Revival style ormolu parlor sofa, circa 1850s, thought to be from New York. The sofa features a tufted triple back having an ornate wooden center curved rail elaborately embellished with decorative ormolu design to center crest and elaborate ornate carvings. Its sides are topped with upholstered rails with ormolu detail to wood above tufted backs. Elaborate carvings and ormolu are repeated throughout the piece on the arms, skirt and end in elaborately carved paw and claw feet. The sofa is covered in a gorgeous soft rose velvet upholstery with piped detailing. Together with a matching pair of parlor side chairs, upholstered the same as sofa. Companion piece to item 14CIN382-162.
