Early 20th Century Tapir Foot Inkwell
Item Details
An early 20th century Tapir foot inkwell on a circular burl maple wooden pedestal. The inkwell was crafted by London silversmith James William Benson in sterling silver with hallmark dating this piece to 1901. The inkwell features a silver circular frame mounted to a boar foot with glass lined insert topped with a sterling silver lift top with engraved monogram to top and cork insert to interior. The boars foot has fur attached and features four toes and hand stitching to the back.
