An original Gail Corbett Goldsmith clay sculpture of a rhinoceros. The artist earned her BFA at Denver University in 1955, and after spending a year abroad in Mexico she attended Cranbrook Academy of Art. After spending a year in Rome the artist settled in New York and studied under Peter Agostini. In New York the artist was at one time represented by prominent gallerist William Holman, and in Kent, Connecticut by Rob Ober Gallery. The artist was also represented by Gallery 101 in Williamsburg. The artist’s solo exhibitions include: New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture 2011; Long Island University, 2007; the Elizabeth Foundation 2001; Sinclair College, Dayton Ohio, 1999. The rhinoceros is made of clay with a warm brown over a blue gloss glaze. The squat figure stands on four feet with his head hung low showing off his two horns.
