Dona Vietnam Mid-Century Pottery Vase
Item Details
A delightful ceramic vase from Dona of Vietnam. This mid-century art pottery has a motif of nobleman or scholar with attendants, created in a raised pattern with glossy enameled colors of deep brown and blue. They stand in contrast to the earthy backrgound of the vase, with lightly incised curlicues scratched directly into the unfinished clay itself. The interior of the vase is glazed and has considerable crazing. The lower edge has a band of dark brown glaze which also covers the outer edge of the foot. Bottom is unglazed along edges, with center that is glazed and has the Dona backstamp in blue ink.
Condition
The unglazed portion of body has a few scuff marks and small areas of discoloration. A few spots of the blue color on lower part of horse has rubbed off or was unevenly applied.
