Engraved Copies of J.F. Herring Fox-Hunting Scenes Paintings

A pair of framed J.F. Herring Fox-Hunting Scene paintings engraved by J. Harris. Herring’s ‘Full Cry’ piece, marked in pencil as number 743, depicts gentlemen participating in a hunt. The horses in the painting are jumping over a fence and there is a horse rider on the ground; this piece was published by the New York Graphic Society. The second piece in this lot, also by Herring and engraved by Harris is titled ‘The Death,’ marked in pencil number 744, depicts a gentleman holding a caught animal with various dogs jumping around him. There are other riders on horses approaching the scene where the animal was caught.
