A Gruen ‘Veri-Thin’ men’s vintage wrist watch, circa 1940s. This Deco style model features a 17 jewel Precision Swiss movement in a relatively simple square, gold-filled case. The stylish curvex dial is shaped thicker in the middle and thinner at the outside edges. The black dial features a second counter placed at the #6 hour marker. This watch was popularized by being worn by many famous actors, including Robert Mitchum. The soft black leather band is a recent replacement. This watch winds, sets and runs.
