"Nova Totius Terrarum" Blaeu Wall Map

A reproduction of a 4.5′ × 3.5′ wall map gifted to a Papal Ambassador in 1665 by Johannes Blaeu, son of the famed 17th century mapmaker William Janszon Blaeu. This framed and triple matted reproduction is rendered in gold tone and metallic tone ink. The map is titled Nova Totius Terrarum Sive Novi Orbis Tabula, which roughly translates to ‘New map of the world, or map of the new world’. The panel below the map provides information about the Blaeu mapmakers and more information about this specific, and particularly fine, example of a Blaeu map.
Condition
Some small debris, possibly wood shavings, under the glass on the matte.
