'Reofect Painting' Oil-based Vintage Textured Print on Canvas
Item Details
A beautiful ‘Reofect Painting’ of fishing boats on a shoreline with a church on shore, from an original painting by artist Van Ruisdael. ‘Reofect paintings’ were actually early textured prints made in the early 1900’s to around 1950. They were oil based and varnished in a way that mimicked the texture of oil brush strokes; and printed on canvas to increase the realism of the reproductions. The prints were sold in high end galleries during their time of manufacture; but because the process was very expensive, it was abandoned by the 20th mid-century. Prints of this type are rare as a result; this piece is in very good condition for age.
