Antique Spool Bed
Item Details
An antique spool-turned bed, commonly referred to as a ‘Jenny Lind’ bed, after a mid 19th-century singer from London, who toured America. This bed is turned from poplar, stained to resemble walnut or mahogany and features a scroll-shaped headboard with a row of vertical turned spindles, with a matching horizontal crest turning. The foot has identical turnings and rounded corners, as was typical for this style. The original rails have been fitted with attached box-spring (which is bare with no covering), which is very sturdy and allows for a standard full-size mattress.
