Circa 1920s Sonora Portable Phonograph
Item Details
A circa 1920s Sonora portable phonograph. The phonograph has a leather case with a leather handle, two locking clasps (key not present) and maker’s name in gilt to front. The hinged top opens to a crank that is used on side, the needle and arm fold down from the lid and the base features a ‘fast/slow’ knob and a lever to stop record. Includes a Velvet Tone ‘Hurry, Johnny, Hurry’ record. At the time of cataloging, EBTH was able to determine that this item was in working order but does not play well.
Condition
- to fair. Heavy wear to leather on case. Some leather coming loose. The record plays but the music is not clear, may need some tuning or a new needle.
