Vintage Thonet Style Child's Bentwood Bench

A vintage Thonet style bentwood child’s bench. Charming bench features signature Thonet style curved arm rests and back. A double-wide, hand-caned seat is lighter in color than the wood frame. Underside of bench has two faded stickers. One reads, ‘Jacob & Josef Kohn, Wien’ and the other reads, ‘Vienna Austria’. Additional marks include a branded ‘J&J Kohn’ and the number ‘22’. The father and son furniture-making team of Jacob and Josef Kohn went into business in 1849. Kohn went on to be one of the leading furniture makers in Austria-Hungary, and a major competitor to Gebrüder Thonet.
