An exciting and beautifully presented Peter Max (New York, 1937- ), original acrylic on canvas painting, titled “A Better World Version VIII.” A brilliantly rendered piece from one of the masters of psychedelia, the artist has painted a majestic sunset in the midst of a mythical forest that truly seems the stuff of dreams. This painting is extremely typical of the artist’s oeuvre. This is an image that Max has recreated many times because of its immense poetry and simple beauty. This would seem to be one of the few that the artist painted to be purple dominated. The purple that Max has chosen to proliferate the entire painting is a milky purple, the color of calm, hugging the sun. Signed in to the lower left in the artist’s typical manner. This exquisite work of art is presented in an incredible frame, generous in size and beautifully gilded with a rust colored patina that mirrors the warm palette of the painting.
