Trio of Ash Sculptures from Mount St. Helens, Signed "Stan"

A trio of ash sculptures created from the leavings of the May 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens in Washington state, signed ‘Stan,’ to include two handbuilt perforated circular vases and one handbuilt sculpture of two small birds nesting atop a rocky surface. Sculptures are primitive and highly textural and the dingy quality of the finish imparted by the medium both augments this earthiness as well as evoking the source of the medium itself. An appealing organic souvenir of geologic history.
