Nancy Ford Cones "Tree Spirit" Kallitype Print
Item Details
A Nancy Ford Cones (1869-1962) ‘Tree Spirit’ kallitype print on 250 GR Lenox 100 paper, a reproduction of a Cones unpublished 1928 photographic negative in the Walt Burton Collection for the Ford 125th anniversary portfolio in 1994. Cones was born in Milan, Ohio, and resided for most of her life in Loveland, Ohio. As a farmer’s wife, Cones pursued her photography passion by capturing rural life and portraiture. She received second place in the 1905 Eastman Kodak Company contest against 28,000 participants, and was published in magazines such as County Life in America and Woman’s Home Companion. Companies such as Bausch & Lomb and Kodak used her photographs as stunning advertisements during the 20th century. The well-loved Loveland photographer now has a gallery established in her name, displaying her work, by the Loveland Historical Society. The Blumann process print features a woman draped in a sheer dress, perfectly nestled into an opening of a large tree trunk amongst a wooded forest, sharply gazing at the onlooker. The print is stamped by the Walt Burton Collection on the reverse. Unframed.
