Michael Boyett "Flat Out For Red River Station" Pewter Sculpture
Item Details
A fantastic pewter sculpture of immense detail, ‘Flat Out For Red River Station’ by well listed artist Michael Boyett (Kansas and Texas, b. 1943). A signed and dated 1984, limited edition #21/2500, with certificate of registration. Michael Boyett’s desire for realism along with his interest in heroic, historical America, ‘Flat Out’ was inspired by the actual events that occurred in 1867 near Red River Station on the Sante Fe Trail in New Mexico. Created from historic blue prints of the nine passenger Concord Stage, Boyett authentically portrays every detail because he believes that each sculpture should ‘give the viewer the sensation that he actually witnessed the event in history.’ ‘Flat Out,’ was sculpted in wax by Boyett and then sent to the Chilmark foundry where it required 173 separate cast, rolled and etched metal parts to be assembled into the gunstock walnut base.
