19th Century Solid Maple Rocking Chair

Item Details

A 19th century wooden maple Boston style rocker chair topped by a wide panel with scroll end and curved back accents. Plain turned stiles flank seven plain turned spindles that taper to the top and end in a curved bottom rail which is mortised into the seat. The arms mount to stiles and are skillfully carved with scroll ends supported by plain spindles and a thicker bobbin turned spindle to the end. The seat has a scrolled round front edge and rest on thick vase turned legs with plain side stretchers and flat rockers.
