Original Thomas Lahy Limited Edition Serigraph
Item Details
An original, pencil signed, limited edition, color serigraph by Detroit-born artist Thomas Lahy. The informational card attached to the back reads as follows ‘Thomas Lahy was born in Detroit, Michigan on Spetember 23, 1947. He spent most of his youth in rural Washington, Michigan, and during his early schooling showed talent in drawing. His formal training began at MSU in ’66 where he studied with James Adley and Allen Leepa, and printmakers James McConnell and Howard Church. He received a degree in art practice and education in the spring of 1970. Since then he has devoted his time to printmaking, primarily serigraphy, and his prints have been exhibited in several major cities in the East and Midwest. The Lahy studio and home are near Brighton, Michigan. Thomas Lahy regards art as a form of communication, to be used, as music and language are used, to express and magnify the human experience. Although the major emphasis of his work is structure and design, he strives to retain in each piece an elemental personal quality.’ The images featured herein is 26/45 and pencil signed to the lower right. The image is interestingly titled ‘Hannibal,’ presumably after the Punic Carthaginian military commander and not after the iconic character portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in ‘Silence of The Lambs.’ The graphic provided here by the artist is extremely attractive; generally speaking, it just seems to work. The print is presented in a simple silver tone metal frame.
