WWI Commemorative Porcelain German Military Beer Stein

Item Details

A WWI commemorative German military porcelain beer stein with elaborately colored transferware depictions of various war scenes with descriptions written in black script. The years marked on this piece are 1909-12. It also has an elaborately decorated pewter flip-top lid with a small cannon on top. When looking inside this vessel, if you point the bottom towards a light, you will see a small scene of a soldier taking the hand of a distressed woman revealed in the translucent porcelain. This piece is likely a reproduction as it is marked on the underside as being produced in West Germany which would have been post WWII.

Condition

-there is some tarnishing to the pewter lid
