1920's-1930's Watts Morehouse Steelwood Touring Car Trunk
Item Details
A black metal 1920’s-1930’s Watts Morehouse Steelwood touring car trunk. The trunk is black painted metal painted, hinged at the top and open on the front about 4’ up from the bottom. The trunk is detailed with two curved chrome strips on front, from the top to the latches. The only markings are on the latches, ‘Steelwood Watts Morehouse Co. Jackson, Mich. Made by Yale’ and inside the lid. The trunk has a wooden base and heavy rubber side handles. In the earlier 20th century automobile manufacturers build racks on the back of cars for trunks. The “trunk” of the car was literally a removable piece of luggage, not like the integral part of the car today.
