Item Details

John Scott Bradstreet founded the Minneapolis Crafthouse studio in 1901 where he created furniture for a number of wealthy clients. This cupboard in particular was commissioned by prominent Minneapolis lumber baron Hovey C. Clarke of the Shevlin, Carpenter, and Clarke Company.

Marks The underside of the drawer has an etched inscription reading “1909 / This cabinet designed by / John S. Bradstreet, & made / in his shops for H.C. Clarke.” The right door verso has a carved shield dated “1909” above “hovey c. clarke”.

- overall with various scratches, marks, nicks/chips, and abrasions consistent with age and use (feet with some cracks…back right foot has a larger chip); scattered finish wear/losses; upper right cabinet is missing shelf; left door is missing interior lockplate.
