A Chinese Li Tieguai rosewood figurine. Li Tieguai is one of the Eight Immortals in the Chinese religion that returns to earth as a beggar to teach those of world vanities. The hand carved figurine depicts the immortal’s short bearded face tilted to his left, his body profile in swooping drapery, clutching a tall looped staff and a leafed hat hanging on his back. The barefoot figure stands on a black stained jagged wooden base. This has two holes on the backside of the rock that likely once attached to a larger stand.
Condition
There is chipped wood along his neck and a few small areas on his drapery. This has two holes on the backside of the rock that likely once attached to a larger stand. There are some areas of paper and glue on the base.
