Jean-Pierre Vasarely, known as ‘Yvaral,’ was the son of Victor Vasarely, considered the Father of the Op-Art movement. Yvaral was heavily immersed in an artistic and creative environment from an early age and continued his formal education at the École des Arts appliqués in Paris in the early 1950s. In 1975, he coined the term ‘Numerical Art,’ a process of art-making based on numerical formulas and algorithms. His works are represented in the permanent collections of the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum; the Tate Modern; the Museum of Modern Art; and The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, among others.
