Item Details
An oil on board painting signed to the lower left with the name ‘Twister Mac.’ Richard Earl McBurney was born in Grainfield, KS on June 19, 1901. McBurney moved to California in 1907. At age 14 he began working in Hemet as a herdboy and horse wrangler. He was active in southern California until his death in Hemet on Aug. 22, 1988. He signed his paintings “Twister Mac,’ (via askart via Edan Hughes, ‘Artists in California, 1786-1940.’” The artist has painted an incredibly pleasant Californian landscape full of cool rolling, blue watered, stream waters coming down from the large grey mountains that dominate the background of this picturesque masterpiece.
