An Early 20th Century Oak Carved Chair in the Jacobean Style

An early 20th century oak carved chair, done in the Jacobean style. The high-back chair enjoys skillfully carved spiraled side columns, foliate and shell carved detailing at the back and a crest, at the top, to show a crown over two shields, flanked by a rampant lion and a whippet. The motto on the banner beneath reads ‘Non Me Frustra Laedes’ meaning ‘Do not harm me for no reason’. Both the back panel and the seat of the chair are padded and upholstered in a soft red fabric with self welting. The chair has spiraled carved legs with a front rung and an ‘H’ stretcher. Overall, a beautifully carved antique chair with a splendid rich patina.
Condition
, with the only issue being that the seat fabric has faded.
