Original Robert Bliss Oil on Canvas Painting
Item Details
An original oil on canvas painting signed to the lower right-hand corner by extremely well listed artist Robert R. Bliss (1925 – 1981). Bliss is mainly famous for his arguably homoerotic paintings of half naked men, which are absolutely stunning, highly collectible, and utterly exquisite. His figurative work is frequently framed by lavish landscapes, somewhat minimal, and generally nautical. This painting is purely nautical and features a sterling white sailboat sitting majestically atop the clear cool water. The boat’s reflection is magnificently obscured in the water, providing a valence of abstraction for this already incredible work. The painting is presented in an incredible frame of gleaming gilded wood.
Condition
- back of canvas and frame exhibit wear consistent with age, however this wear does not show whatsoever to the front, and the wear to the back wouldn’t appear to be too terrible.
