A solid walnut French dessert table, made in the late 19th century or early 20th, is a transitional piece between the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles and comes in two pieces. The top piece has beveled glass doors and side panels with a mercury-backed mirror on the interior, creating a stunning display case. It also features hand carved acorn and leaf embellishments, fluting, brass escutcheons, and another mercury-backed mirror below the display case. The footed bottom of the piece features gorgeous burled walnut veneer drawers and doors with fine gilt, fired ormolu acorn and leaf drawer pulls, and brass door escutcheons. The superb craftsmanship of the piece is continued with carved acorn and leaf decorations on the two side doors and corners.
