Louis Comfort Tiffany was the son of the founder Charles Louis Tiffany and took over operations in 1902 after the death of his father. He was a leading American designer best known for his stained glass work and lamps. Although his overall decorative style was Art Nouveau, his jewelry style leaned towards Arts and Crafts and the American Aesthetic Movement. Louis Comfort had a fascination for gemstones. Moonstones were very popular during the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts Movement and were used in many of his jewelry pieces. They had an ethereal aesthetic indicative of the time.
