In 1923 A. Aubrey Bodine was an office boy at Baltimore Sun. After taking photographs of the Thomas Viaduct at Relay he showed them to the editor of the Sunday paper who immediately published them. This began Bodine’s career, where he has chronicled every aspect of Maryland life on the pages of the Baltimore Sun. Relying mostly on capturing an image by using his viewfinder, Bodine had also experimented with working on the negative. Using intensifiers, pencil marking, dyes and adding clouds photographically, he was able to create intense manipulations. Bodine has been featured in numerous books, magazines, calendars, and murals. His work has been exhibited extensively and is collected both privately and publicly.
