An 18th century original painting on stretched canvas to illustrate a tender family scene in front of the hearth, signed ‘A. Trevisani’ in the lower left corner. The heart warming scene depicts a mother and father holding a bare bottom little baby, cheerfully enjoying the moment. The painting is housed in a gold frame with carved detailing at the corners.
Little biographical information is to be found on the artist, he was known to have been alive in 1753 and educated in Venice. He is ranked as an important Venetian artist of the time, painting alter panels and portraiture. He is particularly talented in the use of chiaroscuro, evident in this charming painting.
Condition
The painting has a bit of cracquelure, does not detract. *
