A Large Early 20th Century Rookwood Faience Landscape Tile

A large and very pleasing early 20th century Rookwood faience painted and sculpted landscape tile. The tile depicting a grove of distant trees faintly reflected in the blue water. A tall thin tree in the foreground, at the right side of the composition, creates a sense of depth and the slight hints of purple in the green glaze is quite effective. The heavy tile is stamped to the back ‘Rookwood Faience 1651Y 3’ and the number one in a circle. The tile is beautifully presented in a thin gold frame.
