Circa 1900-1930s French Bauer Milk Can

A circa 1900-1930s metal French Bauer milk can. This can has an umbrella top and ‘French Bauer, Cinti, Oh -43’’ in relief on can. Milk cans were used to transport milk from the mid-1800s through the 1940s. The French Bauer company was once the largest dairy in Cincinnati. They were among the first dairies in the nation to switch from using metal cans for delivery to glass bottles.
