Widely considered a father of the Op Art movement, Vasarely was known for his colorful paintings and serigraphs. The artist took inspiration from various European influences including Bauhaus design principles, Surrealism, Constructivism, and Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 – 1944). Vasarely’s works are noted for their ability to create illusionary depth with color, geometric repetition, and strong graphic designs.
