Born in Alabama, self-taught Outsider artist Mose Tolliver began painting after a work accident left his legs severely injured. He is known for his brightly colored compositions featuring simplistic forms and shapes often portraying abstract figures, self-portraits, animals, and nature. His works have been exhibited at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the American Folk Art Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, among other institutions.
