Additional Information | Designed in 1938 by Curt Herzstark, the calculator was not produced at that time due to the Nazi annexation of Austria. Herzstark was sent to Buchenwald and ordered to make a drawing of his device which the Germans intended to be a gift to Hitler at the successful conclusion of the war. Herzstark survived the war and reproduced the drawings for the calculator from memory. It was produced until 1972 when it was supplanted by electronic pocket calculators. Serial number 501191 dates this example to 1953. |
