Anson Daniels was born in East Medway (now Millis, MA) in 1813. He was a portrait painter who worked in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He devoted himself to art and literature and was a successful poet.

Daniels was also a Deacon for 28 years and represented Medway, Massachusetts in 1866 in the State Legislature.

At least 37 portraits by him have been located, including a self-portrait. He died in 1884 in Medway, Massachusetts.

- abrasions and scratches to the frame; significant crackle and craquelure throughout; paint chipping, stains and scratches throughout; examined under UV light, no apparent retouching to note; wax relined.
