19th Century Victorian Canopy Bed
Item Details
A 19th century victorian four poster double bed with canopy. The headboard features a center arcade style splat crowned by arched scrolling open woodwork with beading below and a columnade that boasts wooden ten bobbin turned spindles attached to bottom rail. The center panel is flanked by squared columnar posts with a cornice top, turned middle accents ending in bun feet. The headboard boasts the same column posts flanking plain top and bottom rail connected by bobbin turned spindles. The canopy consist of a rectangular wooden frame that fits inside the one piece rectangular molded wooden top with rounded corners that fits over wooden dowels on the top of the posts. The frame holds the upholstery for the canopy tight against the molded top. The bed rails consist of flat scalloped panels and have metal knobs for mounting. The bed does not have bottom slats for mattress.
