Born in 1963, Antonio Carreno is an abstract painter, whose work has been receiving accolades nationally and in his birthplace, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he gained his academic background at the National School of Fine Arts. His paintings burst with abstract vitality. Abstraction offered Antonio the freedom he wanted to express finding that his subconscious would often take an unpredictable course and that his conscious thoughts engage formal artistic qualities of structure, color, and line. Antonio Carreno has exhibited in galleries around the United States for over 30 years. His works are also in collections at the Latin American Museum of Modern Art in Washington, D.C., Dillard University, New Orleans, LA, the Arizona State University Art Museum, the Morris Museum, Morristown, New Jersey, as well as, the Dominican American Institute of Culture and The Reserved Bank of the Dominican Republic, both in Santo Domingo.
